Henri Laborit suggested that when stress cannot be resolved through action, it seeks another outlet. Aggression is one of the body's possible responses to this unresolved tension. Seen from that perspective, a behavior we usually condemn takes on a different meaning: not as something to celebrate or excuse, but as something to understand.
